How to use our AMIs..
Step-by-step PDF guide
We've prepared a step-by-step PDF guide to get you up and running in virtually no time. You can download it from here.
What do I need?
-
You'll need either Proxy Sniffer Free Edition or Proxy Sniffer Professional Edition, version 4.4-C or newer.
-
A Credit Card to setup your Amazon AWS account (if you haven't already done so).
Preparatory works (... need to do this once only)...
-
First you'll have to prepare and verify your load test on your local workstation by using Proxy Sniffer Free Edition or by using Proxy Sniffer Professional Edition version 4.4-C.
-
Create an Amazon Account (EC2)
-
Subscribe to one or more Amazon Product Codes listed in this table. No recurring subscription fees applies, you'll only pay for when you're actually using our AMIs.
-
Configure your Amazon EC2 credentials in your local installation of Proxy Sniffer.
... and now lets make your app/webserver sweat!
| In the Proxy Sniffer GUI navigate to "Main Menu -> Project Navigator icon -> Network icon -> EC2 icon". Select the region you want to launch your instances in and then click on "Continue". | |
| You'll be shown a list of already running AMIs (likely to be empty at this stage). Click on the blue "i" simbol or otherwise enter the AMI ID directly (if you know it). |
|
| After clicking on the blue "i" you'll be shown a list of Proxy Sniffer AMIs available in the selected region. Be patient, it might take up to a minute for the table to show. Click on the AMI ID that you'd like to start. You can only start AMI ID you've subscribed to. | |
| Now select the number of instances you want to start and then click on "Launch instances". | |
| You should now see that your AMI instance is being started. The status is set to "pending". | |
| Click on the "refresh" button after a minute or so and the status should have changed to "running". | |
| In the "Network" menu of Proxy Sniffer 2 Exec Agent entries should appear for each AMI that you've launched. Click on the URL with the instance FQDN to monitor the instance's resources like CPU utilization, etc.. | |
You're now ready to run your loadtests as you usually would with Proxy Sniffer.
Once you're finished do not forget to shutdown the AMIs you've started as you'll otherwise incur unwanted charges.
